Delegation and Leadership Reflection: Empathy, Failing Forward, and Building Trust in Teams

Developing leadership skills takes time, patience, and hard work. An effective leader learns from their mistakes, which is an essential part of the growth journey. The ability to delegate is a key trait; traditional delegation is limited to issuing instructions, while Stewardship Delegation gives individuals the freedom and responsibility to achieve results, as Dr. David Doriscar explains (Doriscar, 2022). A skilled leader builds cohesive teams, instills trust, and faces challenges with steadfastness. Mistakes are not the end of the road; they are opportunities to learn. The concept of "failing forward" teaches us that every failure is a lesson that leads to deeper growth (Module 7 Notes, 2025). John Maxwell stresses the need to shift our perspective on failure and see it as a necessary step on the path to success (Maxwell, 2024). According to Saint Maximilian Kolbe, endurance and faith are the cornerstones of success, and true success extends beyond reaching objectives (Module 7 Notes, 2025). An empathetic leader builds trust with their team, recognizing their feelings, which creates a supportive work environment (Fagan, Sunderman, & Yellow Robe, n.d.).

True leaders don't just manage tasks; they delegate confidently, learn from mistakes, persevere, and lead with empathy, putting others' needs before their own ambitions, inspiring others with confidence and faith.
